In the first half of 2023 Brielsekreek recreational park will open its doors. The park is located in a very touristic area close to the western border of Rotterdam and along the mouth of the Maas, in the side of the “Brielse Meer”. It’s a very peculiar location, since it inherits characteristics of both natural countryside landscape and industrial harbor district of Rotterdam. Because of its unique location the park will attract various kinds of guests, from city dwellers to countryside lovers.
The landscape design of the park was based on the concept of differentiating the relation between water and land, so it possible to distinguish 3 different habitats within the park: a riverside landscape with willows leaning on the water, a sandy bight with a small island, a countryside area crossed by canals and ponds. In this setting the central building of the park is located near the entrance marking a line between the canals area and the riverside, while different kind of cabins occupy different areas, also granting a good mix of types and volumes.

The park accommodates 160 cottages of 8 different types, each designed for a specific target: Adventure and Comfort cottages are designed to stimulate people to relate with the outdoor spaces most of the time of their stay. The Family 1 and 2 cottage provides a spacious living and dining room which can be opened to the outside and in general a very functional space for families. The Royal 1 and 2 cottages are all about luxury and comfort. The XL cottage is all about maximum space for large groups, on 2 floors, where upstairs there are bedrooms and downstairs there’s a very spacious living room with a large kitchen.
All the cottages are designed to adapt well to the landscape they are, so terraces on the water or on the beach, glass facades towards canals and in general use of wooden materials for the facade that fit in the context.
