Garden Pavilion ‘The Old Rhine’, Leiden

Location: Leiden
Year: 2003
Area: 8 m2
Status: built
Client: private
Team: Remko Remijnse

In a private garden next to the River Rhine 2by4 designed a garden pavilion that perfectly suited the needs of the client.

The goal was to create a small and cozy pavilion next to river that could be used during winter time and was as transparent as possible to keep an open relationship between the garden and the water.

The pavilion was completely prefabricated so that the construction time on site could be reduced. The pavilion was build without the need of a building permit which shortened the overall building procedure even more.

The pavilion’s sharp edges and modern materials create a playful contrast with the lush and colorful garden. The aluminum facade also slightly reflects the colors of the garden making the pavilion blend into its surroundings in every season.
